Weekly Writing Challenge: Haiku Catchoo!

These are my first two haikus out of five this week. They are in response to this prompt:

Road Trip

Hours in the car

My eyes gaze out the window

Yearning for my home

Tidbits of knowledge

I marvel at the quickness

Hands on the buzzer

Longing for Love

If only I had the slope of your nose

The wave of your hair

The crinkle in the corner of your dreamboat eyes

If only I had the contours of your hands

The drum of your animated fingers

The soft sweep of them upon my cheek

If only I had the lines of your lips

The crookedness of your smile

The gentle bite of your teeth

If only I had your laughter

Your arms wrapped around me

If only I had your heart

If I Were in Charge of The World

If I were in charge of the world
I’d ban seafood,
Long fingernails and also, twerking

If I were in charge of the world
There would be dancing in the street
Walking in the park
And singing in the rain

If I were in charge of the world
You wouldn’t have hate
You wouldn’t have lonely
You wouldn’t have suicides
Or homophobes

If I were in charge of the world

Books would be the new movies

Sixties clothes would be back in style

And people who cry and laugh and feel

And sometimes eat peanut butter excessively

Would still be allowed to be

In charge of the world
