The Receiving End

One of these days

I should like to see you

Drown in your laughter

Be smothered by your smiles

Your own careless words thrown back

Like a boomerang of hurt

I see how you talk your way

Into good fortune

You sickening sycophant

Feelings are nothing but stepping stones to you

Something to manipulate

Into the rungs

Of your twisted, twisted ladder

One of these days

I should like to see you

On the receiving end for a change

If I Were To Own The Sky

Were I to own the sky – I think –

I would not be so fickle

To act upon a shift in mood

A tear to cause the rain to trickle

I’d like to think that I would be

A fair and wise supreme

No destructive storms created

During the course of my regime

But all is smoother said than done

The shift from hands to head

Power can make quite easily

Tearing all promises to shreds

Were I to own the sky – I think –

I would not enjoy the gift

I’d rather have no burdens

A cloud floating adrift

Behind The Beautiful

I want to see beneath the veil

Behind your pretty face

Show me your scars

Your hidden, dark place

Show me your worst

Your doubts, your fears

Show me your heartaches

Your pain, your tears

Behind the beautiful

Tear tracks on your heart

Wipe them away one by one

The healing I impart

I see how you hide

In your beauty you bask

But would you let me

See you without the mask
