Sometimes I Get Scared

Sometimes I get scared

So scared and filled with grief-stricken panic

That I try to hide

Keep it buried under meaningless feelings

But somehow it wells up

Higher and higher

Until I can no longer hold it in

And it comes out from my eyes

And my nose and my mouth

Shuddering, wracking sobs

Salty tears that stream down

Tracing the contours of my face

Bitter salty freedom

Sometimes I get scared
