Silence

Silence

Every day

It is mostly silence

You, me and silence

But as everyone knows

Silence can be very loud

Silence can buzz in the air

Like TV static

Giving you the need to clear your throat

It can hover around your ears

Flitting back and forth like a mosquito

Obvious and annoying

It can solidify

A giant wall of quiet

Between you and me

Silence can bite its lip

And rock back and forth on its feet

Awkwardly pretending not to be there

But silence can also blend into the walls

Lay down on the floor

Comfortable and comforting

It can fly into your ears and enter your mind

And carry your thoughts

Over to me

Silence can wrap around you like a blanket

Whisper soft, relaxing, quiet thoughts

And keep you nice and cozy

Every day

It is mostly silence

You, me and silence

But as we both know

Silence is loud enough for the both of us
